Christopher Bang, stage name Bang Chan, is the rapper, dancer, vocalist, songwriter, music producer and leader of the South Korean boy band Stray Kids. Bang Chan is a member of Stray Kids’ subgroup 3Racha. According to the Korea Music Copyright Association, he has 138 songs to his name.
Bang Chan was born on October 3, 1997 in Seoul, South Korea. His family moved to Australia when he was very young. The eldest of 3 siblings, Bang Chan starred in a steak commercial in Australia during his primary school years. Bang Chan, who started his artistic career early, was also interested in sports such as swimming, football and basketball and won various medals. He attended Newtown Performing Arts High School before leaving Australia. With the support of his family, Bang Chan participated in JYP Entertainment’s trainee audition held in Australia in 2010. Bang Chan joined JYP Entertainment as a trainee on April 11, 2011, who was highly praised by the judges and staff at his piano and guitar auditions.
Returning to South Korea to become a trainee, Bang Chan attended Cheongdam High School. While studying ballet and modern dance there, he also participated in various musicals.
